Random Writer Workshop-Poem

Posted: 4/8/11 | Written by Jeannie | Labels: , Comments

We all know I'm rubbish at poems. Wednesday was poem night at RWW. You can see the dilemma. But I push. I am a writer after all. This is the one and only poem I wrote during the night.

Je suis,
"Daddy,"
sharp and sweet,
round & round chasing,
water splashes,
pants, shoes, skin all wet,
"Daddy, Daddy",
blanc comme neige.

Poem: Hemp Lotion

Hemp Lotion
smelling of good clean dirt
growing green grapes
and red watermelon
all across the central valley floor

Wrist deep in dirt
day after rain
water flowing freely
like a loquacious teen
talking of the boy she loves

Smelling of Mother Nature’s
ripe fruits being plucked
Tomato pickers, Bee keepers, Almond growers
all reminding me of
Hemp Lotion

Poem: Winter

Inspired by D.R.’s post on The Nervous Breakdown I decided to do a little poem. I am rubbish at poetry I’ll be the first to say it. Though, like Maureen Johnson says, ‘when you are learning to write you are going to suck [...] and that's the sign you are on the right path’.

Leaves drop
air cools
time stops.

Evenings quiet
nights lengthen
faces worn.

Lights dim
sheets pulled
love made.
